Vehicle History

The M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle was developed to carry infantry into battle while operating alongside U.S. tanks and other armored vehicles. Unlike a basic armored personnel carrier, the Bradley was designed to transport soldiers while also providing direct fire support from its turret-mounted weapons.

The M2 Bradley is armed with a 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun, a coaxial machine gun, and a TOW anti-tank missile launcher. This gave mechanized infantry units the ability to engage enemy troops, light vehicles, fortified positions, and armored threats while supporting dismounted soldiers on the battlefield.

During the Gulf War, Bradley vehicles played an important role in fast-moving U.S. armored operations across the desert. When moved between bases, ports, training areas, or deployment zones, Bradleys were often transported by rail or heavy equipment transporters as part of larger military logistics and deployment operations.
