Vehicle History

The M3 half-track was developed to transport American infantry alongside armored and mechanized formations during World War II. Its design combined conventional front wheels with a tracked rear suspension, providing better cross-country mobility than an ordinary truck while retaining useful road speed and mechanical simplicity. The open-topped armored body protected the driver, crew, and passengers from small-arms fire and shell fragments, although it offered limited protection from attacks above.

The M3A1 introduced a raised armored pulpit above the front passenger position for a .50-caliber M2 Browning machine gun, while additional .30-caliber weapons could be mounted around the troop compartment. M3-series half-tracks served with American and Allied forces across North Africa, Italy, Western Europe, and the Pacific, carrying infantry, towing equipment, and supporting numerous specialized battlefield roles.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
