Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a U.S. Army M151 light utility vehicle towing an M416 cargo trailer in MERDC four-color camouflage. The M151 features its compact open body, horizontal front grille, round headlights, split windshield with wipers, side mirrors, open doorways, rear-mounted spare wheel, and fitted canvas roof with transparent side curtains. A tall whip antenna and radio mounting equipment reflect the vehicle’s field-communications capability.

The matching single-axle M416 trailer carries a fitted canvas cover with realistically sculpted folds and tensioned edges. Both vehicle and trailer display coordinated green, beige, brown, and black camouflage, together with subdued unit markings and red reflector details. Fine features include the steering wheel, front and rear seating, dashboard, jerry can, towing pintle, trailer drawbar, deeply treaded tires, suspension components, and restrained dust and operational weathering.

Vehicle History

The M151 was developed as the U.S. military’s new ¼-ton, four-wheel-drive utility truck and replaced earlier M38-series vehicles. Ford designed and initially manufactured the vehicle, while later production was also undertaken by Kaiser and AM General. Unlike earlier military utility vehicles built on separate frames, the M151 used an integrated body structure and independent suspension to improve interior space, ground clearance, and cross-country mobility.

The two-wheel M416 was a ¼-ton cargo trailer designed to accompany light military utility vehicles and carry equipment, supplies, communications gear, and other field loads. U.S. Army technical documentation formally identifies it as the M416 ¼-ton, two-wheel cargo trailer, and documented M151 combinations used the trailer to carry antennas, supplies, generators, and related equipment.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
