Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a U.S. Army M151 light utility vehicle towing an M416 cargo trailer in a dark Forest Green finish. The open M151 features its horizontal front grille, round headlights, upright split windshield with wipers, side mirror, open doorways, and compact four-seat interior. A tall whip antenna, radio equipment, rear-mounted spare wheel, and exterior jerry can reinforce the vehicle’s field-communications and utility role.

The matching single-axle M416 trailer carries a fitted tan canvas cover with realistically sculpted folds and tensioned edges. Fine details include the steering wheel, dashboard, front and rear seating, towing pintle, trailer drawbar, squared trailer fenders, rear reflectors, suspension components, and deeply treaded tires. White recognition stars and authentic U.S. Army markings contrast with the dark green finish, while restrained fading, dust, grime, and operational wear complete the model.

Vehicle History

The M151 was developed as the U.S. military’s new ¼-ton, four-wheel-drive utility truck and replaced earlier M38-series vehicles. Ford designed and initially produced the vehicle, while later production was also undertaken by Kaiser Jeep and AM General. Unlike earlier military utility vehicles built on separate frames and solid axles, the M151 used an integrated body structure and independent suspension to improve interior space and cross-country mobility.

The M416 was officially designated a ¼-ton, two-wheel cargo trailer and was designed to accompany light military utility vehicles. It provided additional capacity for communications equipment, supplies, tools, generators, ammunition, and other field loads while retaining a compact size suited to cross-country military use.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
