Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a U.S. Army M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System with an armored cab and desert sand finish. Subtle dust, grime, panel shading, and operational wear complement the finely applied identification markings, warning labels, lights, and equipment details across the cab, chassis, and launcher assembly.

The model captures the HIMARS system’s distinctive six-wheel FMTV-based chassis, angular armored crew cab, single rocket pod, and hydraulic launcher mechanism. The launcher can be displayed in both its stowed transport position and a raised firing position. Vehicle History

The M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System is a wheeled multiple-launch rocket system mounted on an M1140 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles chassis. It combines the firepower of the larger tracked M270 MLRS with greater road mobility and easier air transport. The launcher carries one interchangeable pod containing six Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System rockets or one Army Tactical Missile System missile.

HIMARS entered U.S. military service in 2005 and provides rapidly deployable, long-range precision fires. Its wheeled chassis allows the launcher to move quickly between firing positions, while its compact dimensions permit transport aboard a C-130 aircraft. The armored cab protects the three-person crew while the onboard fire-control system allows the launcher to conduct missions with limited external support.
