Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a U.S. Army Ford Model T military touring car in a weathered Olive Drab finish. The open vehicle features separate front and rear bench seats, a framed windshield, steering wheel, slender body panels, narrow engine hood, upright radiator, rounded fenders, large headlights, and delicately reproduced spoked wheels. Its folded fabric roof is stacked prominently behind the rear passenger compartment.

Exterior equipment includes a side-mounted spare wheel, running boards, a rectangular storage box, a smaller equipment container, rear light, and exposed steering and suspension components. Authentic U.S. Army vehicle markings give the car a distinct wartime identity, while pale road dust, faded upholstery, worn edges, and restrained grime create a convincing field-used appearance.

Vehicle History

Ford introduced the Model T in 1908 as a lightweight, durable, and relatively affordable automobile designed for dependable operation on the largely unpaved roads of the period. Its flexible chassis supported touring cars, runabouts, delivery vehicles, ambulances, and numerous owner-built conversions. The approximately 20-horsepower four-cylinder engine provided useful performance because the vehicle was considerably lighter than many contemporary automobiles.

During World War I, Model Ts served Allied forces in numerous transportation roles, including staff and liaison cars, ambulances, light cargo vehicles, and artillery support. The open touring-car configuration offered inexpensive and easily maintained transportation for officers, couriers, and other military personnel. The Model T’s simplicity, light weight, and adaptability made it especially valuable where roads were rough and established military motor transport remained limited.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
