Model Overview

A Ready-Made 1:87 / HO scale Artitec Bischoff Polytrac construction machine equipped with front loader arms and a large toothed shovel. This distinctive tractor-derived machine features large rear drive tires, smaller front steering wheels, an open operator’s position, and a raised front-loading assembly, making it well suited to construction sites, aggregate yards, industrial facilities, and material-handling scenes.

The orange finish has a heavily used industrial appearance, with dust, grime, faded paint, rust-toned wear, and dark staining visible across the body, loader arms, wheels, chassis, and shovel. Fine details include the exposed hydraulic cylinders and lines, structural loader bracing, open mesh-style operator’s seat, steering controls, side access ladder, engine-compartment grilles, exhaust silencer, headlights, and a realistically worn bucket interior and cutting teeth. Artitec identifies 387.379 as a hand-painted Ready-Made H0 / 1:87 model produced from resin and photo-etched components.

Vehicle History

Bischoff-Werke developed the Polytrac as a multipurpose construction machine after ending its short-lived postwar tractor program. The first Polytrac entered the market in 1954 and used a tractor-derived wheeled chassis designed to accept different working attachments. The concept allowed one base machine to perform loading, excavating, grading, lifting, and other construction or industrial tasks.

The Polytrac range could be equipped as a wheel loader or fitted with equipment such as grabs, forks, excavating buckets, dozer blades, and lifting booms. This shovel-equipped configuration used front-mounted loader arms and a bucket for moving soil, gravel, sand, coal, and other loose materials around construction sites, industrial yards, and processing facilities.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
