Model Overview

A Ready-Made 1:87 / HO scale Artitec Kaelble Type 8 WG road roller finished in yellow with large steel compaction drums, an open operator’s position, and a simple canopy roof. This heavy road-construction machine features a large rear roller, a smaller front roller, exposed mechanical components, a rear-mounted cylindrical tank, and distinctive Kaelble markings, making it well suited to roadworks, municipal projects, industrial sites, construction scenes, and historical street settings.

The yellow finish has a convincingly used construction-equipment appearance, with subtle dust, grime, faded paint, and age-related wear visible across the body, roller frames, canopy supports, tank, and chassis. Contrasting red wheel centers and metallic roller surfaces add visual interest, while the model includes fine details such as steering controls, engine access openings, structural supports, piping, brackets, riveted roller faces, manufacturer plaques, and a realistically weathered operator’s area.

Vehicle History

Kaelble was a German manufacturer known for heavy trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and road rollers. In 1924, the company introduced one of the first road rollers powered by a diesel engine, helping replace the steam-powered rollers that had previously dominated road construction. The Type 8 WG was an approximately eight-ton roller that could be increased to around ten tons with additional ballast and was powered by a Kaelble four-stroke diesel engine. Machines of this type were used to compact road surfaces, stone, and other construction materials and became a familiar sight on German road-building projects.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
