Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a Ford Model A pickup in an all-black finish with contrasting gold-colored wire wheels. The vehicle features an enclosed cab, open rear cargo bed, curved fenders, broad running boards, and the compact proportions of an early light-duty pickup truck.

The model also recreates the radiator surround, headlights, front and rear bumpers, side-mounted spare wheel, license plates, door handles, rear fenders, tailgate, and wooden cargo-bed floor. Fine body lines, carefully reproduced trim, and subtly aged surfaces give the pickup a convincing late-1920s and early-1930s working-vehicle appearance.

Vehicle History

The Ford Model A replaced the Model T and was introduced to the public in late 1927 for the 1928 model year. It featured more modern styling, conventional controls, improved performance, and Ford’s newly adopted blue oval emblem.

Ford’s Model A pickup was based on the Model A passenger-car platform and used the same four-cylinder, 40-horsepower engine. Buyers could choose between open-cab and more weather-resistant closed-cab versions. Ford sold nearly 62,000 Model A trucks in 1928 and more than 212,000 in 1929.

The compact pickup body gave farmers, tradespeople, and small businesses an affordable vehicle capable of carrying tools, supplies, and light cargo while retaining much of the Model A’s familiar mechanical design.
