Model Overview

This Ready-Made Artitec model depicts an M4 Sherman equipped as a dozer tank for U.S. or British Army service during World War II. The model retains its 75 mm gun turret and roof-mounted .50-caliber machine gun while adding a broad front dozer blade with long side support arms and detailed mounting hardware. An olive drab finish, white Allied recognition stars, antenna, tools, rolled tarps, packs, and rear-deck stowage give the vehicle a heavily equipped field appearance. Rust and abrasion across the blade are complemented by realistic dust, grime, and wear on the hull, running gear, and tracks. Artitec officially identifies item 387.116 as a Ready-Made H0 1:87 model associated with both the U.S. Army and British Army and constructed from resin with etched-metal details.

Vehicle History

The Sherman dozer combined the armored mobility and armament of the M4 medium tank with a front bulldozer blade. It could perform digging and filling work, open routes, and clear obstacles or debris while giving its crew considerably more protection than an ordinary unarmored bulldozer. U.S. Army accounts describe blade-equipped Shermans as an effective solution for breaking through Normandy’s difficult hedgerows, while an Imperial War Museums record documents a British Sherman dozer serving with the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry during Operation Epsom on June 29, 1944. The Sherman dozer therefore functioned as both an armed tank and a protected battlefield engineering vehicle.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in service. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
