Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces the armored Landing Vehicle Tracked LVT(A)-4 as deployed during the fighting on Iwo Jima. Its distinctive amphibious design is recreated with a broad boat-shaped hull, armored upper structure, exposed upper track runs, sloping bow, and an open-top rotating turret armed with a short-barreled 75 mm howitzer.

The model is finished in heavily weathered Pacific Theater camouflage combining beige, green, and reddish-brown areas. White “D35” vehicle markings and vivid red recognition stripes appear across the hull, bow, and rear. Additional details include a turret-mounted .50-caliber machine gun, visible turret interior and gun mechanism, long radio antenna, open hatches, handrails, rear grilles, and finely rendered amphibious tracks. Faded paint, dust, rust, grime, and track wear give the model an authentic combat-used appearance.

Vehicle History

The LVT(A)-4 was an armored fire-support vehicle developed around the LVT-2 chassis. It replaced the earlier LVT(A)-1’s 37 mm gun with an open-topped turret carrying a short-barreled 75 mm howitzer, giving the vehicle greater high-explosive firepower against fortified positions. During the Iwo Jima landings, 68 LVT(A)-4 armored amphibians led the assault waves and provided direct fire during the critical opening phase before conventional tanks reached the battlefield.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
