Vehicle History

The LVT-4 was an American-developed amphibious tracked carrier known to British forces as the Buffalo. Unlike the earlier LVT-1 and LVT-2, the LVT-4 incorporated a large rear ramp that made it much easier to load troops, supplies, artillery, and light vehicles into its open cargo compartment. It could travel on land and propel itself through water using its wide, cleated tracks.

British Buffaloes served extensively during the campaign in North-West Europe. They transported assault troops across flooded terrain and waterways and supported operations connected with the Scheldt, Walcheren, the Rhine crossings, and the final advance into Germany. “Slough” has been identified as an LVT-4 of 5 Troop, C Squadron, 11th Royal Tank Regiment, carrying vehicle number 29. The 11th Royal Tank Regiment operated its Buffaloes under the specialized-armour organization of the 79th Armoured Division.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
