Model Overview

This Ready-Made 1:87 / HO scale Artitec model depicts a British-operated Chevrolet 3-ton General Service cargo truck from the Canadian Military Pattern family. Finished in olive drab, it features a canvas-covered cargo body, white Allied recognition star on the cab roof, vehicle registration markings, and a yellow bridge-classification disc marked 7. Subtle fading, dust, grime, and wear give the truck a convincingly field-used appearance. Artitec identifies the model as the CMP/UK Chevrolet 3T GS.

The model includes a detailed cab with divided glazing, roof hatch, mirrors, headlights, protective front grille, and running steps. Additional features include a spare wheel mounted behind the cab, side storage compartments, rugged tires, mud flaps, rear lights, towing equipment, and realistically sculpted folds and tie-down details across the canvas cover. Artitec’s Ready-Made vehicles are handcrafted from resin with etched-metal components before being individually painted and weathered.

Vehicle History

Canadian Military Pattern trucks were standardized military vehicles designed to British specifications and manufactured primarily by General Motors of Canada’s Chevrolet division and Ford of Canada during World War II. Although built in Canada, they were supplied extensively to the British Army and other Commonwealth forces, with many shipped overseas in partially assembled form and completed in Britain or other Allied countries.

The 3-ton 4×4 truck was one of the most common CMP configurations. General Service versions carried supplies, equipment, ammunition, and personnel in a versatile cargo body protected by a removable canvas cover. These durable trucks became an essential part of British and Commonwealth military transportation, supporting operations across Europe, North Africa, and other wartime theaters.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
