Model Overview

This Ready-Made Artitec model captures the German Tiger II heavy tank with the later flat-front production turret commonly known among collectors as the Henschel turret. The long-barreled main gun, broad sloped hull, side skirts, overlapping road wheels, tow cables, pioneer tools, rear exhaust system, open hatches, and antenna are reproduced in finely rendered 1:87 HO-scale detail.

The model is finished in a distinctive three-color ambush camouflage pattern, combining a dark-yellow base with irregular green and red-brown areas and contrasting camouflage spots. Turret number 131 appears on both sides, while light weathering accents the tracks, running gear, tools, exhausts, and lower hull. Artitec identifies this as a hand-painted Ready-Made model constructed from resin with etched-metal components.

Vehicle History

The Tiger II, officially designated the Sd.Kfz. 182 Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B and also known as the Königstiger or King Tiger, was a German heavy tank introduced during World War II in 1944. It combined thick sloped armor with the powerful 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 main gun, but its approximately 69.8-ton weight and mechanical complexity limited mobility and reliability. A total of 492 Tiger IIs were produced. The flat-front turret represented here is more precisely called the production turret; although widely known as the Henschel turret, both Tiger II turret designs were developed and manufactured by Krupp.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
