Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a German Sd.Kfz. 250/3 armored command half-track in a weathered three-color camouflage finish. Irregular green and reddish-brown lines cross the dark-yellow base, while dust, chipped edges, darkened recesses, and worn running gear create a convincingly field-used appearance.

The open-topped command compartment includes interior seating, communications equipment, and a shielded forward machine-gun position. Its most distinctive feature is the tall multi-pronged radio antenna associated with the vehicle’s command role. Additional details include the angular early-production armored hull, German cross and tactical markings, external tools, side-mounted equipment boxes, rear stowage packs, front steering wheels, and fully modeled tracked suspension.

Vehicle History

The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a compact German armored half-track developed for reconnaissance, headquarters, artillery-observation, and communications duties. It combined steerable front wheels with a tracked rear suspension and an open-topped armored hull, allowing it to accompany armored formations across terrain that could restrict conventional wheeled vehicles. The early production body used a complex, sharply faceted armor arrangement that was later replaced by a simplified hull.

The Sd.Kfz. 250/3 was a light armored radio and command vehicle fitted with long-range communications equipment in place of much of the standard passenger seating. These vehicles were used by battalion and higher command personnel to maintain contact with subordinate units while operating close to the front. Early examples carried conspicuous elevated antenna systems, while later versions adopted less prominent antennas.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
