Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a U.S. Army M5A1 Stuart light tank in an extensively equipped field configuration. Its olive-drab finish is complemented by subtle fading, dust, chipped edges, darkened recesses, and rust-toned wear across the tracks and running gear, while white Allied star markings stand out clearly against the armored hull.

The compact turret carries a 37 mm main gun and a roof-mounted machine gun, with open rear-deck access panels adding further visual interest. Extensive external stowage includes rolled tarps, bedrolls, packs, bags, containers, spare track links, a spare road wheel, tools, and other field equipment secured across the turret, hull sides, front deck, and engine compartment.

Vehicle History

The M5A1 Stuart was an improved version of the American Stuart light-tank family. The M5 series used a larger hull and revised powertrain while retaining the 37 mm main gun of the earlier M3 Stuart. The M5A1 incorporated the later turret configuration and carried a crew of four.

As heavier tanks increasingly handled direct armored combat, M5A1 Stuarts were widely used for reconnaissance, screening, security, and liaison duties. Their compact size, reliability, and mobility remained useful even though their armor and 37 mm armament were increasingly limited against later enemy tanks.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
