Model Overview

This ready-made Artitec model reproduces a Soviet BT7-1 command tank in a heavily weathered dark-green finish. Subtle fading, exposed reddish-brown edges, grime, and worn tracks give the hull, turret, suspension, and running gear a convincingly field-used appearance.

The command configuration is distinguished by the prominent frame-style radio antenna surrounding the turret. Additional details include the long 45 mm main gun, open turret hatch, turret railings, front tow chain, headlights, rear-deck equipment, wooden storage boxes, rolled tarps, tools, exhaust components, and the BT series’ characteristic large road wheels and tracked suspension.

Vehicle History

The BT-7 was a Soviet fast light tank developed for high-speed reconnaissance and maneuver operations. It used Christie suspension and was designed to operate on its tracks or, for extended road travel, on its large road wheels after the tracks were removed. The standard production version carried a 45 mm 20-K gun together with DT machine-gun armament and had a three-person crew.

Radio-equipped command versions provided communications for Soviet armored formations. Earlier examples were visually distinguished by a frame-style antenna mounted around the turret, while later command vehicles adopted less conspicuous whip antennas. BT-7 tanks served in the Soviet–Japanese border fighting, the invasion of Poland, the Winter War, and World War II.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
