Model Overview

A Ready-Made 1:87 / HO scale Artitec German Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. B armored half-track equipped with Wurfrahmen rocket-launch frames and finished in weathered German gray. This detailed model depicts the open-topped armored personnel carrier with six externally mounted launch frames, an angular armored hull, front steering wheels, tracked rear suspension, and a detailed fighting compartment, making it well suited to German armored, artillery-support, and battlefield scenes.

The dark gray finish has a dusty, field-used appearance, with grime, worn edges, rust-toned discoloration, and dirt visible across the armored body, launch frames, wheels, suspension, and tracks. The open fighting compartment includes bench seating, interior equipment, front and rear machine-gun positions, and a tall radio antenna, while the unloaded Wurfrahmen frames allow the vehicle’s distinctive external launcher arrangement to remain fully visible.

Vehicle History

The Sd.Kfz. 7, formally designated the mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8t, was a German heavy half-track tractor used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. It was designed to tow heavy artillery while transporting the weapon crew and associated equipment across roads and difficult terrain.

The vehicle was commonly paired with weapons such as the 8.8 cm FlaK gun and the 15 cm sFH 18 heavy field howitzer. Its combination of front steering wheels and a tracked rear suspension provided greater cross-country traction than a conventional truck, while its open passenger compartment offered multiple rows of seating for the artillery crew.

About Artitec Ready-Made Models

Artitec's Ready-Made models are handcrafted from high-quality resin and produced in limited runs. Each model is expertly preassembled, hand-painted, and often subtly weathered to recreate the appearance of a real vehicle in use. Because every model is finished by hand, small variations may occur, making each piece unique.

Artitec uses vacuum-cast resin to reproduce exceptionally fine, true-to-scale details that can be difficult to achieve with conventional manufacturing methods. Etched-brass parts are added where appropriate to capture delicate components and further enhance realism.

Each model is assembled, painted, and weathered by skilled specialists—a process requiring considerable time, precision, and experience. Artitec Ready-Made models are ideal for collectors seeking exceptional detail and realism without the time and effort required to build and finish a model kit.
